Were there boys auditioning at the same time? Same room?ĭid you have to do pas de deux at the audition? What were the sizes of the girls, were there normal sized girls, heavier girls, or mostly "ballet thin" girls?ĭid older girls have to do more or more difficult steps? What were the more difficult moves that you had to do? How long was the audition? How much was barre, center, and across the floor? What were your required to do on pointe (what steps like pirouettes, piques, any across the floor)? How many combinations were given on pointe, and was the whole audition on pointe? (Is the whole audition on pointe if you’re 16 and older? Were there several combinations with pirouettes or just one or two? How many pirouettes did you have to do (was it specified)? Were they from fourth (back leg bent or straight) or fifth?ĭid you do other turns? (Like arabesque turns, attitude turns, and fouettes?) What do you do across the floor (like what kinds of steps)? How high are yours/peoples extensions (like below 90, at 90, far above 90)? What sort of combinations at barre do you do during the audition?Īre they difficult, or easy? Fast or slow? A lot of different moves and steps in one combo, or a repetition of one thing? Is it just a normal class, but everyone wears numbers and there is a table with judges, or does one teacher pick and choose who makes it? How many times have you done the PNB summer intensive or any summer intensive?Īnd did you make the audition? or not? and if not why do you think so/reason for not making it? How old are you? (Or give a range if you don’t want to say, like young= 9-11, middle=12-14, and older 15-18)ĭo you take class at a studio or ballet school (such as PNB’s school)? Questions About You: (just so I can get an idea of who is answering) (Please answer as many as you can and as detailed as possible) but I have a few more questions about the PNB intensive. I looked at the intensive sticky with the questions like was pointe included how many pirouettes, did you have fun, what was the most challenging thing etc. So I am considering auditioning for next summer’s program, but I am very doubtful that I’ll make it. I am currently at the second highest level at my studio (ballet 4) and I being moved up to ballet “ballet 4.5” next year (I take half ballet four classes, and half balled 5 classes) and the class minimum is 4 per week with the addition of pointe. She says that I have a really good ballet facility (I’m not exactly sure what she means by that), that I have good musicality, grace, etc. My teacher (she danced and trained at The San Francisco Ballet, so I guess that she knows what she’s talking about ) has suggested that I audition for the summer program with Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) a while ago, but after the auditions have taken place and such.

I've been doing ballet for only 2 years now (full year, summers too), and I am currently 15.
